Anti-war protestors for academic freedom

Giving a speech at Earlham College, The Weekly Standard's Bill Kristol got a taste of today's undergraduate's maturity level. (Via The Corner.)

I hope Kristol has a little bit more of a sense of humor about this than Ann Coulter.

From an interview she did with the New York Observer:

Why do liberals often say violent things?

"Forget what they say, they are violent," she said. "They were slashing tires on Election Day. I was physically attacked this year. I hear MoveOn.org has a bounty for anyone who throws a pie in my face. Neither of those guys hit me. I think one is still in prison. It is a funny thing, that they ended up in prison—enjoying the benefits of gay marriage. One guy with a broken shoulder and one with a broken nose. And that was when I was traveling totally unprotected. Let ’em try it again, they’ll end up dead."

Right, Ann, right..did you take your medicine this morning?

Fair enough, Ann Coulter isn't a uniter. But why mention her in the same breath as Bill Kristol -- advisor to two presidents, foreign policy scholar, magazine editor, TV commentator, and an all-around nice guy?

No particular reason, other than they happened to be the last two people I heard about getting pies in their faces.

And to be fair to Kristol, he seems to have a better sense of humor about the affair:

"Members of the audience jeered the student, then applauded as Mr. Kristol wiped the pie from his face and said, 'Just let me finish this point.'" (NYT)

(And in another Pyrrhic victory for lefty college students everywhere, Pat Buchanan was doused with salad dressing last night.)
